FAQ

About Service

Q

I don't know which plan I need to choose.

A

Please see the NTT homepage for more information or contact corpsales@gol.com
NTT East: http://www.flets.com/ (Japanese Only)
NTT West: http://flets-w.com/(Japanese Only)

Q

How fast is "B-FLET'S" or "FLET'S Hikari Next"?

A

"B-FLET'S" or "FLET'S Hikari Next" can operate up to 100Mbps, but actual Internet connection speeds can vary due to the nature of Internet traffic and environmental conditions.

Q

Is a router required for the service?

A

The Static IP service does not require the use of a router. However, if you are using a multiple IPAddress package and have multiple computer devices requiring Static IPs, you will need a routing device to distribute the addresses on the network.

Otherwise, for a single Static IP address, a single network device can be used along with a PPPoE client.

Q

What is a PPPoE?

A

Point to Point Protocol over Ethernet (PPPoE) is an Internet standard protocol used to create a virtual dialup connection over broadband services using a username and password.

Q

Am I supposed to use a straight or cross cable to connect the ONU and my computer?

A

A straight cable is required between your comptuer and the ONU.

Q

What kind of device will be installed in our office/room?

A

An ONU will be installed in your office/room.

Q

What is an ONU?

A

Optical Network Unit (ONU) is a hardware device, similar to a modem, that is used to convert the fiber optic media to Category 5 cabling.

Technical Issues

Q

Error message appears when I try to check E-mails.

A

Please check if you can browse the Internet. If this is not possible: No page appears when you open your browser and try to browse the Internet. If possible, in many cases, there are some mistakes in your mailer settings. Please review the items below:

[A-i] If you have an E-mail address that ends with @gol.com settings in your E-mail, software should be as follows:

SMTP server: mail.gol.com
POP3 server: popmail.gol.com
User ID: youruserID@gol.com
Password: your own (This is case-sensitive, and must be typed exactly as it was when given to you.)

[A-ii] If you are using Virtual Domain Mail, settings in your mail software should be as follows:

SMTP server: mail.gol.com
POP3 server: popmail.gol.com
Mail Address: Use the mail address that you were given for Virtual Domain Mail.
User ID: Same as Mailbox Name, Real Account, and POP account, which excludes @gol.com.
Password: Initial settings will be the same as the main account. (This is case-sensitive, and must be typed exactly as it was when given to you.)

Q

When I connect through "B-FLET'S" or "FLET'S Hikari Next", I can't send any E-mail.

A

[A-i] Please double-check if the destination E-mail address is correct. If you selected the destination address by replying to someone's E-mail, or by using an address book, try typing it out manually.

[A-ii] Make sure the SMTP server is mail.gol.com

[A-iii] You need to have access to a GOL access point to send E-mails. If you are connected to other providers, such as OCN, you will usually need to have the appropriate SMTP server setting in your mail software.

[A-iv] Please make sure you have no E-mail left in your outgoing mailbox. If you have typed an incorrect E-mail address, the E-mail might be left in the outgoing mailbox and continue to deliver error messages.
