FUSION GOL Corporate Services are aimed at Corporate Customers but they can be used anyway even if for private use.

Will FUSION GOL Web Hosting service have forced advertisements or banner ads on my Web site?

A

FUSION GOL does not place advertisements or any other modifications to your Web site. Your Web site and Web space belongs to you as long as you are a FUSION GOL customer.

What happens if I reach the disk space limit?

A

If disk limits are reached, new files can not be uploaded. Disk space capacity levels can be checked through the Subscriber Conrol Panel.

Does Web Hosting provide a database? If so, what kind?

Web Hosting services provide access to a MySQL database.

What Web development languages are available?

A

Web Hosting provides access to several Web development languages. With our services, you will have access to Perl, PHP, SSI, FrontPage, and CGI.

Do these services support custom CGI?

Yes. This feature is available on all plans.

Which CGI scripts operate on these services?

A

Depending on the plan, Perl, SSI, and PHP are available. Customers are responsible for the support of these scripts. Some "sendmail"scripts wil not function correctly.

These are available for Business and Executive Plans.

Active Server Pages are not available with Web Hosting service. This technology is Microsoft dependent and is not available on our Linux servers.

Web Hosting comes complete with a powerful Web analytics application called Urchin. This Web-based application can help you gather statistics on a full range of categories relating to your Web site usage.

What information is provided in the Access log reports?

A

Reports include the number of viewers, pages viewed, hits and byte reported hourly, daily, and monthly. Also: Ranking of pages viewed, directory access amount, Errors received, referral sites, top key words, search engines, Web browsers used, and route, depth and length of visit.

Are raw log files available?

A

Yes. Raw logs can be downloaded anytime. These will be kept in the directory for one week after which time they are deleted.

What measures do you take with regard to server troubles?

FUSION GOL provides full-time fault tolerance and disaster recovery which includes daily data back-up, redundant disk arrays, and back-up power.

Can I use SMTP authentication?

Yes, SMTP authentication is supported.

What is the Shopping Cart?

With the Shopping Cart, you can start your own online store. By changing the design of our template, you can modify the online store to your liking. In addtition, Credit Card Payment feature can be added as an option.

It can be used with the Business and Executive Plans. You must also apply for the Shopping Cart in order to use the Credit Card Payment feature.

What is the minimum contract period?

The minimum contract term is 6 months.

What is the procedure if wanting to cancel the service?

Please complete the cancellation form and return it to us. The deadline for cancellation is on the 25th of each month. The service will be cancelled at the end of that month if the cancellation request is received by the deadline. Any cancellation requests received after the deadline will be followed at the end of the next month.

What is a domain name?

A

A domain name is a personalized name that represents your business or organization. This name can be used on the Internet for easy user interaction. The Internet is actually based on numbers, so easy to remember domain names help user to navigate around the Web.

Can I setup a subdomain?

Yes, you can setup a subdomain on any plan. (The number of subdomains allowed differ depending on the plan.)

Can I use a domain I already own, with these services?

Yes. You may use you own domain name with Web Hosting Package services.

What do I need to do to transfer my existing Web site with my own domain name to FUSION GOL?

If you wish to transfer your own domain name to FUSION GOL, please indicate this on the application form. Please advise your current provider that you wish to transfer the domain name. FUSION GOL Corporate Services may contact you to coordinate the transfer. If there are any concerns about the procedure, please feel free to contact us.

When transferring my existing Web site to FUSION GOL, is there a period when my site will become unavailable?

FUSION GOL coordinates the timing and handling of the transfer to avoid any downtime.

You can use domain pointers with the Business and Executive Plans. (The number of domain pointers allowed differs depending on the plan.)

How do I upload my Web site?

A

Your Web site data can be uploaded to the server using FTP. An FTP client can allow you to manage your files on the server.

(Replace "***" with your FTP Server User Name.)
FTP Password: Use the password that has been chosen and set through
the FTP Manager of your Subscriber Control Panel.

How do I manage my account?

Web Hosting comes with a powerful new tool called the Subscriber Control Panel (SCP). The SCP is a Web portal that gives you direct access to all of the changes you need to manage your Web Hosting accounts and E-mails.

Do you provide monitoring for Web sites and servers?

Yes, FUSION GOL monitors all major protocols and server operations, both hardware and software. Some examples of the monitored protocols and applications are HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, POP, SMTP, DNS, and MySQL.

Will my Web site have its own IP address?

A

Web Hosting uses Virtual Web Hosting. This means that one IP is assigned to each shared server. Therefore each Web site does not have its own IP address. If there is any concern about performance issues related to multiple sites sharing a single IP address, FUSION GOL maintains a policy to add capacity when server usage reaches 49%. This way we can provide the highest possible service levels at all times.

Can I use Telnet or SSH to access the Unix shell?

A

The Unix shell cannot be accessed. The recommended method for accessing the Web server is through your FTP client or the Subscriber Control Panel.

How do I manage my database?

A

Your database can be fully managed through a Web-based database manager available through the SCP.

How do I set up my E-mail software?

A

Enter the following information into the mail software of your choice.

*Customers using GOL eAccess ADSL for Internet connectivity and GOL Web Hosting Package based E-mail services are unable to use the default outgoing SMTP port 25 when sending E-mail. To solve this issue, such customer need only to change the outgoing SMTP port to 587 to resume smooth transmission of outbound mail. Please refer to documentation or help files included with your mail software to change the outgoing SMTP port from 25 to 587.

Alternatively, any GOL customer always has the option of using GOL's E-mail outgoing SMTP mail server (mail.gol.com) on the default port 25.

Instructions for specifying port 587
with Outlook Express (Windows) is provided below

1. Select "Accounts" from your "Tools" menu.
2. From the "Mail" tab, highlight your WHP E-mail account and click the "Properties" button.

3. From the "Servers" tab, check the box labeled "My server requires authentication" and then click the "Settings" button.

4. Check the box labeled "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" and then click the "OK" button.


5. From the "Advanced" tab, enter "587" into the "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" field and then click "OK" to finish the process.

* There may be some E-mail software that will not allow users to alter the outgoing mail port.
